Synergy Youth and Community Development Society o/a Synergy actively hosts fundraisers in support of the causes we feel strongly about! These fundraisers are instrumental in ensuring on-going, quality opportunities for our youth and our community. Synergy's primary focus is to maximize the sustainability of our programs with our existing capacity. Certain programs are currently only partially funded for the year, while others are not funded at all. Synergy's fundraising goal is $30,000 this year and all of the money we raise through fundraising goes directly towards our youth programs. We keep our administration and management costs under 15% since the majority of our fundraising is done by our wonderful volunteers, which includes our Board and staff volunteering their time. We welcome donations of any amount, toward any program. Below, we've outlined some of our funding needs to allow us to continue serving Chestermere, Langdon, and SE Rocky View to the best of our abilities.
All Donations Matched by up to 50%
Synergy has been selected as a participant charity with the Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink between February 1 and September 1, 2019. This means that any donation to Synergy through Birdies for Kids is matched by up to 50%!
So if you click on the picture and go to the link and donate, for example, $20 to us, Birdies for Kids will match 50% of the donation and we will get $30!
PROGRAMS THAT NEED SUPPORT
Homework Helpers is currently offered once per month, but is faced with growing demand and limited capacity. Each monthly session of Homework Helpers costs approximately $200, and our goal is to eventually double the number of sessions offered, which would cost $2,000 per year.
The majority of our youth interns are volunteers, but they dedicate many hours of hard work to Synergy and the community. We aim to provide a bursary to each youth at the end of their internship to reward them for their efforts. We welcome formal sponsors for part or all of a youth intern bursary, which are typically around $500.
SHOUT has grown rapidly in the past year. Currently, both programs are at capacity and demand continues to grow. Our goal is to offer SHOUT more than once per week, to be able to bring the program to more youth in the community. One 8-week session of SHOUT costs approximately $600 to run.
LEADERSHIP & WELLNESS RETREATS
Throughout the year, we aim to offer youth multiple leadership and wellness retreats for leadership development, training, bonding, and more. An entire retreat typically costs around $2500, but we welcome sponsorships in any amount to continue offering retreats for our Youth Interns, Youth Council members, and more!
YELL YOUTH COUNCIL
Currently, Youth Council is working to fundraise for their leadership retreat, where they will officially obtain their LEAD certification that establishes them as young leaders in our community. The approximate cost for one youth to attend the retreat is $150.
One to one
While we do not currently have dedicated funding to offer one to one support for individuals going through a difficult time, we do our very best to meet the need, regardless. We are working hard to gain funding that will build our capacity to provide this care. We welcome and appreciate donations to sponsor staff training, or general wellness donations.
Lakeside Kruzers - August 13th (6:00-8:00pm) - Chestermere Landing, Chestermere
Each 50/50 Raffle's winning ticket will be drawn and announced at the specific event. Participants will be given a minimum of 15 minutes to collect their cash prize on this day. The winning ticket for each event will be posted the following day on our website, if the winner does not collect their prize on the day of the event, they are given one week from the draw date to collect their prize at the Centre for Community Leadership (101 340 Merganser Dr. W, Chestermere, AB) or call 403-212-0242 to make arrangements to collect their prize. The participant must show their winning 50/50 raffle ticket.
